School Safety
Community Services Officer
Meet Constable Katherine Lockwood our Community Services Officer (CSO)/School Resource Officer (SRO).
One of the primary objectives of the Community Services Officer (CSO) is to provide crime prevention and public safety education to the community. The CSO delivers educational programs to the elementary schools in Strathroy-Caradoc.
Programs include:
- the KIDS Program, which is similar to the Values, influences and peers (V.I.P/grade 6) program. With the use of videos, workbooks, and interactive games, police are talking directly with kids about the law, peer relationships, issues relating to online and social media, along with drug and mental health awareness.
The CSO is in schools to engage, mentor, improve self-esteem, guide and empower the youth of our community.
The CSO role in schools is being revamped in 2021, and officers will not be in schools while this process is taking place. Stay tuned for updates.
The Community Service Officer also partners with community groups to provide crime prevention education and strategies to Service Clubs, business owners, Seniors Groups, and Children’s groups. Some of the programs delivered are personal safety, fraud prevention, and station tours.
